Timber of Arsenal shared his experience after visiting Rwanda
Arsenal FC defender Jurrien Timber, who is currently in Rwanda on a three-day visit, described it as "amazing" and "exciting".
Together with his girlfriend, the Dutch international player arrived at Kigali International Airport on Thursday, December 14, for a three-day visit that will include various activities including meeting and socializing with young people.
This trip is part of the collaboration between Rwanda and Arsenal FC that has been going on for many years.
"It's amazing. A lot of people can say the same thing, I'm happy to come. Being here, I'm really happy," he said in a press conference at the airport.
This is Timber's first visit to the African continent.
He will experience hospitality and the unique culture of Rwanda, he will visit Akagera National Park and see different animals, he will talk to Arsenal fans in Kigali and Nyagatare.
Last night he visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial to honor the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsis.
The 22-year-old defender has become the second Arsenal men's first team player to visit the country since the partnership began, following former Arsenal defender David Luiz who visited Rwanda in 2019.
Timber continued: "What I expect is to have a good time. We have a full schedule, so I'm going to enjoy the moment. I brought my girlfriend. I think we can have a good time."
Over the years, Arsenal players such as Edu Gaspar, Robert Pires, Alex Scott, Tony Adams, Lauren, Ray Parlor, David Seaman, Sol Campbell, and first team women's players such as Caitlin Foord, Jordan Nobbs, Jen Beatie, and Katie McCabe visited Rwanda.
