Another Tanzanian student was killed by Hamas in Israel
A Tanzanian student who was previously reported to have been kidnapped by Hamas in Israel, the Tanzanian government has confirmed that he has been killed.
Joshua Mollel was working as an agricultural intern in a village attacked by Hamas gunmen on October 7 (10) this year.
Tanzanian Foreign Minister January Makamba says Mollel was killed immediately after the abduction.
His fellow Tanzanian student, Clemence Felix Mtenga, was also killed in the attack.
Minister Makamba added that Loitu Mollel, Joshua's father, was informed of his son's death.
On the website X, formerly known as Twitter, Makamba announced:
"We are planning to take Mr. Mollel [his father], another member of his family and a government official to Israel to find out more information about this matter."
Mollel's family has not yet made any publication.
In a Facebook post, authorities in the village of Nahal Oz said Mollel's body was in the possession of Hamas.
The two Tanzanian students had traveled to Israel a month before the October 7 attack. Earlier it was announced that they were among 240 people kidnapped by Hamas.
Tanzanian authorities say there are about 350 Tanzanians living in Israel, most of them students studying agriculture.
Dozens of residents of the village of Nahal Oz were among the 1,200 killed by Hamas militants on October 7.
Since then, Hamas says about 18,600 people have been killed in Gaza in Israeli attacks.
